Daytona Beach, Fla. – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide has named Brad Sims as its chief academic officer.
Based at Embry-Riddle Worldwide headquarters in Daytona Beach, Sims is responsible for all academic matters relating to faculty and program delivery. He also oversees the development and implementation of online courses.
“The needs of today’s students are much different than those in the past,” Sims said. “I’m excited to be at an institution like Embry-Riddle Worldwide that has embraced these changes by delivering education in ways we never would have imagined just a few decades ago.”
Sims comes to Embry-Riddle Worldwide from Indiana State University, where he was dean of the College of Technology and oversaw aviation technology, applied engineering and technology management and several other programs. He’s also been on the faculty at Western Carolina University and the University of Florida.
“Between Dr. Sims’ impressive background and passion for higher education, I know Worldwide will continue its tradition of academic excellence. He’s deeply committed to our mission of providing an accessible, quality education to prepare our leaders of tomorrow,” said Worldwide Chancellor John R. Watret, Ph.D.
Sims has a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Purdue University and a master’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida. He and his family live in Ormond Beach.
